The Watertown Housing Authority (WHA) has once again been named one of the nation’s best run housing authorities. Exemplary program management and efficient program implementation earned WHA the designation of a “High Performer” from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Public Housing Agencies, the highest honor HUD can give to a public housing authority. The Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) under the Public Housing Assessment System (PHAS) measures public housing authorities in terms of the physical condition of its properties, its financial condition, management operations and resident satisfaction.
“The WHA has come a long way in providing decent, safe, and affordable housing for its residents” said Michael Robare, Executive Director. “The ‘high performer’ status only demonstrates the commitment of the staff in providing this service. I am proud to work for an organization that truly serves its community.”
The Authority manages and operates 674 public housing units at Eastbrook (East Hills/Meadowbrook) Apartments, Maywood Terrace, Midtown Towers, Skyline Apartments, Hilltop Towers, and LeRay Street Apartments. The WHA has maintained this designation since 2005.
