<p></strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"><strong>WATERTOWN, N.Y. </strong> —  </span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Ruth D. Murphy, 93, Skyline Apartments, passed away Monday, April 16, at her home.</p>
<p>A prayer service will be 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Reed &amp; Benoit Funeral Home followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Richard Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Old St. James Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the funeral home.</p>
<p>Born </span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Sept. 16, 1918, in Carthage, a daughter of Charles E. and Mary Cecilia Quinn Ward, she graduated in 1937 from Augustinian Academy in Carthage.</p>
<p>She married George W. Murphy on Aug. 6, 1938, at St. James Church. Mr. Murphy died Jan. 15, 1983.</p>
<p></span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Mrs. Murphy was an LPN at the West Carthage Hospital and Ryan&#8217;s Nursing Home. She later worked as a secretary for the Air Force recruiter in Watertown, a clerk at the Globe Store in Watertown and a cook in the St. James Rectory.</span></p>

<p><img src="http://www.newzjunky.com/obits/0408empieobit.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="280" align="right" border="1" hspace="6" vspace="6" /><strong>WATERTOWN, N.Y.</strong> <span style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"> — </span> Frances Ann Capone Empie, 79, of 847 LeRay St., passed away, from complications of Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS), Easter Sunday, April 8, at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.</p>
<p>Born Dec. 22, 1932, in Watertown, a daughter of Frank Mariano and Domenica Torturica Capone Sr., she attended Boone Street School, graduated in 1950 from Watertown High School and received her dental hygienist license from Eastman Dental Dispensary in Rochester in 1951.</p>
<p>She married Curtis Giles Empie of Brownville on June 20, 1953, at St. Anthony’s Church. The couple moved to Gouverneur in 1959, and Frances returned to Watertown in 1999.</p>
<p>Fran was a clerk for FW Woolworth’s in 1950. In 1951, she was employed with her brother Dr. Anthony Capone as a dental hygienist and in 1952 with her cousins, Dr. Vito Adragna and Dr. Santina Adragna. From 1960 until 1986, she worked for Dr. Edward Koch in Gouverneur, all of her employment was part time.</p>
<p>Mrs. Empie was a communicant and volunteer for St. Anthony’s Church. A member of the Fiddler’s Dance Group at the State Office Building; she enjoyed dancing (the faster the better), also a member of the local and national chapter of the AARP, Gouverneur’s EJ Noble Hospital Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member and server for the Italian American Civic Association and the Northside Improvement League. Among her volunteer commitments were; the Samaritan Medical Center – Ambulatory Surgery Department and the Office of the Aging.</p>
<p>She enjoyed attending stage performances, concerts, sporting events, getting together with her relatives, gardening, swimming, fishing, exercising, knitting, crocheting, comedy movies and Christian fellowship with others.</p>
<p>Most of all, she loved to laugh, smile and spend time with her children, their spouses and grandchildren.</span></p>

<p>Rita Mae Vincent, 68, of 454 Mill St., Apt. 47, Watertown, died Wednesday, March 21st at Samaritan Medical Center. She was born April 24, 1963, in Carthage, NY, the daughter of David and Ida Arnold Robbins. She graduated from Watertown City Schools.</p>
<p>Mrs. Vincent was a retail sales clerk at a number of Watertown stores and NuMark Inc. in Greenville, TN.</p>
<p>She is survived by her mother, Ida Robbins; Two Daughters, Michelle Railing, and Melissa and Brian Eckhoff, all of Watertown; grandchildren, LCpl. Justin Vincent, Camp Lejeune, NC, Shanna Lynch, Adams Center, Tasha Vincent, Destiney Bales, and Matthew Eckhoff all of Watertown, NY; a great granddaughter, Karlisa Clark, Adams Center, and her cat Lexi.</p>
<p>A brother, Raymond Robbins died before her.</p>

<p>Funeral Services will be Monday, March 26th, at 9:00 AM at the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, with burial following at Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, March 25th, 2-4 and 6-8 PM.</p>
<p>Donations may be given in her memory to the American Diabetes Association.</p>

</strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"><strong>WATERTOWN, N.Y. </strong> —  </span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Patricia A. Gorman, 55, of Mechanic Street, died unexpectedly at her home Friday, March 16.<br />
Born March 6, 1957, in Watertown, the daughter of Schuyler T. Snyder and Flora B. &#8220;Dolly&#8221; Tharrett Thomas, she graduated in 1977 from Watertown High School.<br />
Mrs. Gorman worked for many years at Mercy Hospital and later for Jefferson Rehabilitation Center.<br />
She</span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"> attended First United Methodist Church in Watertown and the North Side Improvement League.<br />
Mrs. Gorman loved to cook and visit with her neighbors.<br />
She was a member of Bridges in Watertown and enjoyed taking pictures, collecting dolls and going to bingo.<br />
Surviving are two sisters, Martha J Furgison and husband, Donald, Watertown,and  Lisa T. O&#8217;Brien and husband, James, Adams Center; two brothers, Schuyler T. Snyder, Maynardville, Tenn., and Richard A. Bowman, Buffalo; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.<br />
She was predeceased by her mother, Flora, her father, Schuyler, and her step father, Lewgene W. &#8220;Red&#8221; Thomas.<br />
There will be a graveside service 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Union Cemetery, Adams Center, with Rev. Joyce Woodcock, First United Methodist Church, officiating. There are no calling hours.<br />
Donations may be made in her honor to Credo Foundation, Watertown.<br />
Arrangements are with the Reed &amp; Benoit Funeral Home.<br />

<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"><strong>WATERTOWN, N.Y.</strong> —  E</span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">dward Fisher, 62, of 454 Mill St., passed Sunday, Feb.26, at his home where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.<br />
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Sky Line Apartments Community Room.<br />
He was born June 17, 1949 in Watertown, the son of the late Clifford and Jean Pollock Fisher.<br />
Mr. Fisher spent many years as a farm hand through out the local area, he worked some construction and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.<br />
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved life.<br />
He married Rose M. Brayton on March 21, 2009, in Watertown.<br />
Among his survivors are his wife, Rose M. Fisher, Watertown; his step mother, Carol &#8220;Ann&#8221; Fisher, Jacksonville, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Peggy Evans, W.Va.; four step sons, Rick Washburn and MaryAnn Carpenter, Belfast, N.Y., Vernon T. Phillips, Marion, N.Y., Jack W. Phillips, Ga., Timothy R. Phillips and Nichole Bowman, Ga.; three half sisters and their husbands, Karen and James Klein, Texas, Brenda and Fred Koss, Fla., Amy and William Beal, Fla.; a half brother John Fisher, Fla.; seven step grandchildren, Max, Chakotay, Dylan, Levi, Brandon, Nick and Brian; several nieces and nephews.<br />
A sister, Virginia Burden, died before him.<br />
Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601.<br />

<p><span style="font-family: Arial;">WATERTOWN, N.Y. </span></strong><span style="font-family: Arial;"> — Dick E. Murphy Sr., 71, Midtown Towers, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, at Samaritan Medical Center where he had been a patient since Dec. 22.</p>
<p>Mr. Murphy was a cab driver for Yellow Cab in Watertown retiring after 30 years of service.</p>
<p>Born Oct. 29, 1940, in Watertown, a son to Robert E. and Thelma Vest Murphy, he was educated in Watertown schools and served with the Navy Reserves.</p>
<p>He worked for Knowltons Paper Mill for several years before going to work for Yellow Cab.</p>
<p>Mr. Murphy was a member of the Midtown Towers Tennants Association.</p>
<p>He enjoyed old movies and spending time with his family.</p>
<p>Dick married Sally Augustus in 1960.</p>
<p>Surviving are his ex-wife, Sally, Brownville; a son and his wife, Dick and Kathy Murphy Jr., Watertown; three daughters and a son-in-law, Nanette and Daniel Adams, and Amy Murphy, all of Watertown, Sherry Webb and her companion, Donald Kiblin, Wilmington, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert C. Murphy, Watertown, and John Stevie, Leonardsville, N.Y.; three sisters, Rosemary Taylor, Leonardsville; Jean (James) Reynolds and Ann (Tino) Pacific, all of Watertown; several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>A great-granddaughter, Alivia Burkhard, and a brother, William Stevie, both died before him.</p>
<p>Per Mr. Murphy&#8217;s wishes, calling hours and funeral services will be held privately for the convenience of the family at the Reed &amp; Benoit Funeral Home.</p>
<p>Spring graveside services will be held for the public in North Watertown Cemetery.</p>

<p><img src="http://www.newzjunky.com/obits/1209oatmanobit.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="272" align="right" border="1" hspace="6" vspace="6" /><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong>WATERTOWN N.Y.</strong> <span style="color: black; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: black; font-size: small;"> — </span></span>Edna J. Oatman, 67, Hilltop Towers, passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 8, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.</p>
<p>A calling hour will be 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown, followed by the noon funeral service at the funeral home with Pastor Frederica Webb of Bethany United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.</p>
<p>She was born Jan. 16, 1944, in Depauville, the daughter of Edwin and Geneva Tharrett.</p>
<p>She was married to Richard Oatman. He died March 21, 2007.</p>
<p>Mrs. Oatman graduated from BOCES nursing school as an LPN and had worked for Hospice of Jefferson County until her retirement.</p>
<p>She enjoyed oil painting, crafts, and ceramics, and also played the organ.</p>
<p>Surviving are four sons, Richard Jr., Oswego, Kenneth and Dale, both of Watertown, and Christopher, S.C.; a daughter, Sherry Boenning, Sackets Harbor; 12 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; four sisters, Barbara Typhair and husband, Stanley, Cora &#8220;Corky&#8221; Parker, and Emily Koberger and husband, Ray, all of Watertown, and Martha Morris, S. C.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.</p>
<p>Besides her husband, Richard, she was predeceased by a sister, Flora &#8220;Dolly&#8221; Thomas.</p>
<p>Donations in her name may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601. </span></span></p>
